Google declared today that it is stopping forthcoming Chrome and Chrome OS releases because of adjusted work schedules. The goal, Google said in a tweet, is to guarantee the releases “continue to be stable, secure, & reliable for anyone who depends on them.”
A week ago, Google told the entirety of its North American representatives to work from home until in any event April 10th, trying to slow the spread of COVID-19. With its groups dissipated and working remotely, the last thing Google needs is to push a Chrome or Chrome OS update just to have bugs pop up. What’s more, with such huge numbers of individuals the nation overworking and gaining from home, any disturbance to Chrome or Chromebooks would be particularly disappointing.
Google says it will organize updates identified with security and that those will be remembered for Chrome 80. Typically, Chrome releases happen decently reliably. In the case of nothing else, this is an update that, under normal conditions, those releases are something everyone takes for granted.
